FAQ - Troubleshooting - Frequent issues

The most frequent issues concerning our network are described here. If you have tried everything and still no dice, write us a mail to admin (at) sin.cvut.cz or come see us in LAB during the office hours.

How do I get to your online office?

  1. You should use Firefox or Google Chrome. You should also have a working webcam or at least a microphone. (MS Edge and Safari should work, although we cannot guarantee it.)
  2. Visit https://sinis.sin.cvut.cz and click the blue button Online office, on the bottom of the page.
  3. Now, you can call us and write with us, real-time.

I am on the Sinkuleho/Dejvická dormitory, but I do not have access to the Internet.

  • Our online office works in our registration/guest network, too!
  • Connect to the Wi-Fi Sincoolka-registration, or plug yourself in via cable. Then, follow the answer above.

I am trying to join the office hours, but all I get is "Unsupported browser."

  • You are probably visiting the office from the browser, which opens after you join Sincoolka-registration. That browser might not work with our online office.
    • If you connect through your phone/tablet, then you should be able to exit that browser: press the menu button in the upper-right corner, then press Use this network as is (or equivalent on iPhone Connect anyway).
    • Then, open Firefox, Chrome or Safari, and visit https://sinis.sin.cvut.cz, where you'll click the Online office blue button.

Do you record the calls?

  • No. However, the text conversations are stored for some time, and may be visible for accidental visitors.

I cannot see Sincoolka network in the network list anymore. Why?

  • Can you see the network from your other devices? If not, please check https://status.sin.cvut.cz, as there may be a possible outage.
  • If you can see it on the other device, but not on the current, try turning Wi-Fi off and on again, or going to the corridor, where the signal is the strongest. Also check the Wi-Fi page for walkthroughs for your devices.
  • The security settings might have changed, and your operating system hid our network as a consequence. Please, follow these steps:
    • Windows 7
      • The Sincoolka network should appear at the very end of the networks list, accompanied by a red cross. Click Open Network and Sharing Center link on the bottom of the window, then on Manage wireless networks and remove Sincoolka network from the list. Now, open the Wifi networks screen again; Sincoolka should be up and available for connection.
    • Windows 8, 8.1, 10
      • The Sincoolka network should appear at the very end of the networks list, accompanied by a white cross in red circle. Select it and click Connect, or Delete and then again Connect.
    • Linux
      • In case Network Manager is having issues with the network settings change, you'll need to Edit connections and either remove or change the network settings (see recommended settings for Network Manager).

After entering my credentials, a message appears: "Cannot log in to this network."

  • Check your school email and password twice. It is required to enter whole email address, including domain.
  • For Linux machines, you need the CA certificate for verification; download it at Certificates page (DigiCert Assured ID Root CA, PEM format).
  • Try it again. It might not work the first time.

If you weren't able to solve your issue, please come to LAB during office hours.
