How to install the network printer in Mac OS X

First, you will need the proper drivers. Download and install the Gutenprint package from their website http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php. It is the .dmg link on the right side, in the grey Downloads area. The latest version is a good idea.

Then, continue with the printer:

Select Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.

In the list of printers choose Add +.

If you can't see Advanced button, add it like this:

  1. Right-click on the top panel and choose Customize toolbar
  2. Find Advanced icon and drag it on the panel

Click Advanced.

Fill the form as in the picture. Also, set URL to: smb://tiskarna.sin.cvut.cz/Sincoolka-ColorLaserJet-Linux:

Click Select Software from last menu.

From the dialog, choose Printer Software. Search for “HP Color LaserJet CP5225dn” model, and then choose that.

FIXME: this picture depicts the wrong driver.

Choose OK and the printer should install itself. During the instalation, check Duplexer setting.

When you print, you might be asked to fill in name and password. Please input the following credentials:

  • Name - printer
  • Password - Sinc00lkaTiskarna (00 - two zeroes)

  • en/verejne/sit/tiskarna/instalace-mac.txt
