FAQ – Frequently asked questions

What is it about?

In accordance with the order of the chairman of the Sincoolka club SIN-NP-2020/3 and the order of the president of SU ČVUT No. 2020-NP4, we allow members who request it to return the paid membership fees for LS 2019/20. This is an extraordinary opportunity that we offer to members who are unable to use our services due to the situation. How can I request a refund?

We have made the form available at https://sinis.sin.cvut.cz. Log in and fill in the COVID-19 return section and send a simple questionnaire.

We return the money either to the account from which the payment came, or to another Czech account (in CZK) or a European account (SEPA payment in EUR), or in cash in LAB (upon agreement). You can choose the method of return directly in the questionnaire.

What happens after I send the request?

The services of memberships, which you want refunded, will be blocked. E.g. if you want to return your network membership, you will be blocked from accessing the club's network and the Internet after filling out the form. Similarly, with a sports membership, you will lose the opportunity to enter the gym and sauna, even if it opens later. This means that if you want to keep your membership because, for example, you continue to use it, you should not request a refund.

When will I get my money back?

We will send the money at the beginning of July 2020, that is, after the deadline for cancellation of the application (which is June 30).

Until when can I request a refund?

You can request a refund of membership fees until May 15, 2020 (inclusive).

I went back to the dormitory; can I regain internet access / gym / etc?

Certainly, you can cancel your application in SINIS until June 30, 2020. You can cancel and re-fill it as you wish until 15 May, and from 16 May it can only be canceled.

Please note that the gym is still closed.

Should the measures be relaxed and return to full-time teaching in June, we will allow all our members access to the academic network from that date, regardless of whether they have applied for a refund or not.

I can't log in to my account - I forgot my login information. What should I do?

If you know your login e-mail, you can reset your password on the SINIS main page. If you no longer have access to your original e-mail, please contact the administrators (admin@sin.cvut.cz) as soon as possible and ask them to change it.

My account / card number has changed, but I don't want to cancel my request because it would be overdue. What should I do?

Contact us at admin@sin.cvut.cz and we will edit your request.

I paid with a card, but it expires by June 2020 / I have it blocked / it is no longer functional. What now?

In this case, we will not be able to return the post to the original card. Please select another refund option in your request. If the deadline for submitting the request has already expired, contact us at admin@sin.cvut.cz and we will try to advise you, or we will change your request.

Of course, we will handle these cases individually when they occur, but this will save us further work.

I would like to connect in the middle of the current college term. Is it possible to pay a portion (e.g. a half) of the membership fee?

Unfortunately not. The issue is that we are a part of CTU Student Union, which is a civic society. The membership fee can only be accepted in whole.

When do I pay the fee? What are the payment deadlines?

The membership fee is paid once each half a year. Below are the respective date spans:

  • The first half of the year is from 1st January to 30th June; you can pay during this period. The membership paid in this period is active until 30th September.
  • The second half of the year is from 1st July to 31st December; you can pay during this period. The membership paid in this period is active until 28th (29th) February.

The first half of the year is basically the summer semester and the second half is the winter semester. The exact duration of your membership can be found in SINIS in the “Membership & Payment” section.

I already have basic membership and I want to include another membership. Do I need to pay for basic membership again?

Nope, each membership type can be paid only once during the given term.

Why cannot I pay for only three months? (e.g. 400 CZK for a quarter of the year)

Mainly due to the administrative burden. The membership fees are set in a way that does not bring excessive burden to our administrators, treasurer or accountant. Administrators and treasurer carry out their duties voluntarily and without reward.

Is it possible to pay the membership fee "in advance"? (e.g. 1600 CZK for a year)

Currently not. It would bring a great administrative burden, mainly due to the interaction with the tax office.

Can I pay the membership fee for multiple people?

Yes, that is possible. Please, send the fee for each person separately, with the correct amount and variable symbol for each member.

Example: If you sent us an amount of 1600 CZK for 2 people, then we could not activate your membership and we would have to return that payment. The correct way is to send 800 CZK with VS 12345 and 800 CZK with VS 12346.

What will happen if I don't pay the membership fee in time?

The next day after the deadline, your services will deactivate, along with your access to them (e.g. the gym). As for the network membership, our network equipment will disable your access to the network.

Paying through wire/bank transfer/internetbanking (or at a Czech Post)? To make (y)our job easier, make sure that account number, variable symbol and the amount is correct. You can find all of these on the Club Membership page, and also after logging in to SINIS - tab “Membership & Payments”.

If you messed up the variable symbol and the amount is correct, contact the admins at platby@sin.cvut.cz and we will match the payment manually.

Accidentally punched in wrong amount of money? We usually return these payments where they came from. But just in case, please let us know at platby@sin.cvut.cz anyway.

In any case, if something went wrong with your payment, you can make a claim - please email us the payment details as soon as possible at platby@sin.cvut.cz and we will handle it without undue delay. If you paid by wire/bank transfer, please also include your bank account number.

Usually the matter is resolved in several days. In case we determine the error was not caused by us, we will pass your claim to our payment service provider.

Be advised that the whole claim process can, in the worst case, take up to 30 days.
